You are a badass!

"If you are serious about changing your life you'll find a way, if you're not you'll find an excuse." - Jen Sincero

I'm adding this to my list of favourite books! Jen Sincero has such a fun, relatable writing style. A nice easy read, although, a couple of chapters are a little hard to swallow as you come to uncomfortable realisations about yourself and the way you are choosing to live. But getting uncomfortable is good right? It's how we grow.

If you are serious about making some changes in your life this book is for you. Even more so if you are also entrepreneurial or have your own business.

This book is quirky fun and full of badassery! I love how with this book, it becomes easy to get your head around ideas and concepts other self help books that can at first feel daunting.

Another year closer to 30

Another year closer to 30

Picture
Spent my 27th birthday having fun in the park! There was a fair bit of a drop on the other side of the wall!
Birthdays come around every year whether we want them to or not and when you hit 25 they get a little more scary, quarter of a century and all that. At 26, you’re closer to the big 3-0 than 20. Then roll on 27 and your 20s are looking more like a thing of the past. Personally, I’ve always quite liked the thought of being 26 years old. Looking back, I remember being a wide eyed, worldly inexperienced 6-year-old and realising that, one day way off in to distant future, I would become 26 on the 26th July and I found this idea quite novel. I somehow knew back then that being 26 would rock and boy 6-year-old Laura wasn’t wrong.

At the end of each calendar year we tend to take the time to reflect, promise ourselves we will drop 5lbs, sign up for a gym membership we will stop using by February, drink less alcohol (until next time). I like to do the same kind of thing each birthday (well sort of). I feel like your birthday is a far more personal time to reflect on the past year, be grateful for what you have achieved and for the people in your lives. I like to set some goals and think about what my next year on this planet might look like.

You get what you focus on. So focus on what you want.

You get what you focus on. So focus on what you want.

Today I took these things off my clothes hangers (see photo). I should have done it ages ago!

Every time I opened up my wardrobe doors these taunting, little, plastic squares were staring down at me from the tops of my clothes hangers. A constant reminder of what I didn’t want to be. Most of the time I didn’t even notice them there, however, I was subconsciously taking in what they said every single day.

Today though, I really noticed them, and they hurt my feelings a little I remembered “You get what you focus on” and our environment is a powerful thing!

Week 4
This week has been possibly the toughest week in different ways to the last 3. The exam was on Wednesday and my last practical teaching on Thursday. I started to doubt myself. Three weeks worth of information to remember with no time to let it sink in!  I want this week to be over with so bad but at the end of the week it will ALL be over and we go our separate ways. I'm feeling conflicted but during this time I remember how important it is to just enjoy every day because in reality that’s all we have.

week 3
This week I taught 30 minutes of a yoga class! In groups of 3 we planned and taught a 90 minute Hatha class. My group chose the topic of Chakras, centres of energy that move inside us.
Nerves put aside we delivered an awesome class linking the positions with each chakra followed by an explanation. I will be bringing this class home with me for sure so if you’d like to learn more about the chakras keep an eye out for my classes.

Week 2
I’m a little late posting as I have teaching on my mind! Monday I was teaching my first Hatha yoga class. Exciting! (I’ll save that for the week 3 post)
Week two was full of ups and downs. I cried a couple of times and laughed so much. I was feeling a little sorry for myself as I spent the whole week covered in a super itchy heat rash. I’m starting to really see a change in my body and my practise it getting easier and I can deepen the postures.

Week 1
Day one seemed to go on forever but now I find myself at the end of the first week wondering where the time has gone.

My body and mind are tired yet I’m feeling more determined and energised than ever.

Understanding the body and mind is the first step, then realising half the reason we can’t do something is because our mind tells us that we can’t.

Working from a computer at home all day was stressing me out, sending emails was stressing me out, getting signups to events was stressing me out, ordering chairs for events was stressing me out... okay, I think you get the picture.

My job was actually pretty awesome and when it was going well I loved it! However, it had got to the point where day to day work was driving me crazy. I'd started making stupid mistakes all the time so when my boss gave me the opportunity to leave I took it.
